Dog Training – Private Dog Training

Cooper doing private dog training to reduce reactivity to other dogs

Cooper learning to be calm around other dogs on walks

One of the most frustrating things is having a dog who is fun to be with 95% of the time and drives you crazy 5% of the time. With many behavior problems, this is often the way things are.

Our Certified Professional Dog Trainer will work with you to develop concrete and realistic solutions to the problems you are facing with your dog, then give you the tools and support you will need to teach your dog good behavior. We want you to be able to work with your dog, not have to decide that it’s “me or the dog”.

Day Training

Wouldn’t it be great to have a professional train your dog, without having to do all the intensive work yourself? Do you have lots of things you want to teach your dog, but no time to do it in?  With day training we can help you make it happen!

Our trainer will come to your house several times a week and day train your dog for you. You can watch, but don’t need to be there if you have other things to do. Once a week our trainer will meet with you to help you keep practicing what we have started for you.

The total number of weeks of day training depends on how many behaviors that you are trying to change and also the final training goals you have.  This service is appropriate for most dogs. Due to varying package lengths, pricing will vary.

Our Training Experience

Our trainers have worked with a wide variety of behavioral problems in many different training settings. We have worked with individual dogs, multi-dog challenges and on the improving the relationships between dogs and cats. Some of the behavioral situations we have addressed in the past are:

  • Good manners skills (greeting people nicely, walking on leash, coming when called and many others)
  • Therapy dog skills
  • Preparing a dog for a stage performance
  • Canine good citizen skills
  • Introductions of new dogs to a household with other pets
  • Before-the-Baby preparations for expecting families
  • House training

And often working in collaboration with our veterinarian/behaviorist or referring veterinarians:

  • Dog-directed reactivity and aggression
  • Human-directed reactivity and aggression
  • Destructive behaviors in the house
  • Separation anxietyand much more…

Whole-Animal Behavioral Approach

We feel that it is of the utmost importance that your pet receive the most appropriate service to address both their behavioral and medical needs. Because of this, we may recommend that you visit your veterinarian and/or set up a veterinary behavior session with our behaviorist and veterinarian (Dr. Valli Parthasarathy) to further assess your dog’s medical situation if any of the following apply…

  • Your dog has been showing significant anxiety or abnormal behavior
  • Your dog’s behavioral problem(s) have shown a recent increase in frequency or intensity
  • Your dog has not been seen by their veterinarian recently or is a senior dog
  • Your dog has other medical conditions which may also be contributing to their behavior

Our goal is to make sure that we are setting you and your dog up for success in training, by minimizing the chances that an underlying medical issue is interfering with your training progress.
