Practice Manager

Synergy Veterinary Behavior is a growing veterinary behavior specialist practice and we are looking for a practice manager to help support our diverse and dedicated team, and awesome clients and patients! We are looking for an experienced individual who can take over business aspects of the practice while helping strategize the practice’s vision for growth. This person needs to be creative, flexible and have a strong desire to support the evolution of a locally-owned small business. This is a full-time position, and our practice is open Sundays through Thursdays.

Duties include:

  • Hiring and coordinating training of new staff, and supporting current staff
  • Overseeing the smooth running of daily facility operations
  • Inventory, purchasing, and fee-setting
  • Reporting financials to practice owners
  • Community outreach and marketing
  • Project management for practice-related projects
  • Client outreach when needed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record of staff management and budgeting for a business
  • An understanding and agreement of Fear Free principles
  • Experience with Quickbooks
  • Be tech-saavy and self-motivated
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in the veterinary field
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Desired but not required:
    • Veterinary Practice Management Certification
    • Background in behavior (eg animal trainer, VTS-Behavior technician, etc)

Compensation: Base salary is $55,000 annually, sliding scale upwards based on experience. Benefits include PTO, health insurance, continuing education allowance, uniform allowance, and more.

 


Veterinary Assistant

Synergy Veterinary Behavior is a growing veterinary behavior specialist practice and we are looking for a practice manager to help support our diverse and dedicated team, and awesome clients and patients!

We are seeking to add a Veterinary Assistant to our diverse, animal-loving team. This position requires someone who enjoys confidently interacting with people as well as being fascinated by animal behavior. The ideal candidate can also thrive in an evolving environment.

This position will involve supporting the Veterinarians during their behavior consults through transcription of spoken conversation, observation of patient body language, and client education. Occasionally we will do phlebotomy but in all cases, we work at the patient’s pace. Between consults, Veterinary Assistants help with prescription refills, client communications, and finalizing records.

Required Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant or technician is required.
  • Experience in reward-based training or behavior modification ideal but not required
  • Proficiency with computers and common online applications is required. Experience with Ezyvet practice management software a plus

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting our behavior veterinarians during appointments, including
    • Room setup
    • Patient intake and checkout
    • Scribing
  • Review and prepare records for appointments
  • Preparing and filing patient records using veterinary practice software
  • May be called on to perform other administrative duties such as routing phone and e-mail messages to appropriate team members
  • Preparing in-clinic prescriptions
  • If appropriate, assisting with phlebotomy and other diagnostic sample collection

Location
This is an on-site position in NW Portland, with potential remote duties in specific circumstances. If working remotely, access to high-speed internet for video consults is required.

 

Compensation: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour. Benefits include PTO, health insurance, continuing education allowance, uniform allowance, and more.
