Dog Bite-Sized Behavior Consults in Portland, OR

At Synergy, we know that behavioral challenges can feel overwhelming, especially when you're trying to find affordable solutions. That's why we’ve created our Bite-Sized Dog Behavior Consults—designed to give you and your dog the behavioral support you need without the full cost of a traditional consultation. These in-person sessions with our compassionate and experienced team offer guidance and strategies, all while keeping your primary veterinarian in the loop for follow-up care.

Is a Bite-Sized Behavior Consult Right for Your Dog?

These sessions are ideal for:

  • Dogs with problem behaviors, such as aggression, separation distress, fears, or phobias, who need focused behavioral support.
  • Pet parents looking for a good starting point for behavioral treatment
  • Veterinarians seeking additional guidance
  • A dog who isn’t responding as expected to the initial treatment plan from your vet, and you need further evaluation to find the best path forward

However, these consults are not the best fit if your primary veterinarian is uncomfortable providing follow-up care. In that case, we recommend scheduling a Behavior Health Assessment with our Veterinary Behavior Specialist to ensure your dog gets the care they need.

How to Schedule Your Dog's Behavior Consult

We’ve made the process simple and straightforward to get you the help you need as quickly as possible:

  1. Your primary veterinarian submits the Veterinary Referral Form online, and the Bite-Sized Behavior Consult form is automatically sent to you.
  2. You'll fill out and submit the Bite-Sized Behavior Consult online form so we can get to know your dog's specific needs.
  3. Once we receive the form, our client care coordinator will reach out to schedule your appointment. The consult price is $295 which must be prepaid when scheduling, with a $150 non-refundable fee.
  4. During the consult, we will provide strategies to help manage your dog’s behavior, strengthen the bond between you and your pet, and guide you toward finding the right trainer if needed.
  5. After your visit, we’ll send you a summary of the session along with helpful educational materials. Your veterinarian will receive any necessary medication recommendations, recheck schedules, and alternative options if needed.

To help keep these consults affordable, we don’t offer direct follow-up with clients after the appointment. Your primary veterinarian will handle any additional support, including implementing the medication plan. If your dog isn’t responding as expected, we recommend a Veterinary Behavior Health Assessment to dive deeper into their needs.
