Nicole Froelich, DVM

Dr. Nicole learned early on that even 400-pound grizzly bears respond beautifully to positive reinforcement—and that’s when she knew she wanted to work with animals full-time. After earning her degrees from Washington State University, she honed her skills with grizzlies at the WSU Bear Center, where she helped them hold out their paws for blood draws in exchange for apples and honey water. Who knew bear training could be so sweet?

With a soft spot for fearful and aggressive animals (thanks to her own pup’s behavioral challenges), Dr. Nicole is passionate about helping pets feel safe, especially those nervous about vet visits. When she’s not calming anxious pets, you’ll find her mountain biking, trail running, or cheering on the Portland Thorns—oh, and she’s a proud Doctor Who fan, too!
